Call for Artists: Mapping Memories
MAAY is excited to announce “Mapping Memories: Stories of Asian Diaspora,” our second annual art exposition in St. Louis. This art exhibition will feature local AAPI artists experiences with topics often stigmatized in our communities, such as gender and sexuality, mental health, and relationship and sexual violence. We are accepting two-dimensional art submissions for Mapping Memories until June 25. Click here to submit your work!
Primary Education and Mock Caucus Training
As we gear up for the upcoming elections in Missouri, we are excited to invite you to participate in our Mock Caucus and Primary Education Seminar, which will be held on February 25 at 2:30pm in the Forest Park Visitor's Center. This event aims to provide valuable insights into the caucus and primary processes, ensuring that you are well-informed and prepared to actively engage in the democratic process.
Mental Health Healing Circles
Mental health is never easy to talk about, especially in many AAPI communities, where discussing such things can be considered disruptive or taboo. However, with the recent rise in anti-Asian hate crimes, anti-Asian racism, and the turbulent state of society at large, it is important now more than ever to listen, communicate, and support each other.
This November, we will be hosting a series of virtual meet-ups to provide those in our community a space to voice their struggles, connect with others, and foster an open dialogue around mental health in a space free from judgement or critique.
The dates and times for these events are yet to be determined, but if you or someone you know is interested, please fill out our sign-up form here.

The 2023 Chinese Lunar New Year is the year of the Rabbit. The House Rabbit Society of Missouri - St. Louis and the Missouri Asian American Youth Foundation are inviting you to our event on the 29th of January at Hi-Pointe Theater, to celebrate this traditional Chinese festival and all things rabbit. Please join us and enjoy entertainment and information about the welfare of rabbits.
Information on Chinese New Year, the Asian community in St. Louis, and a performance by Spring, a student ensemble from Washington University playing traditional Chinese instruments will be included in the event. Therapy rabbits will be present for people to see during our cultural exchange representing the Year of the Rabbit and emphasizing the rabbits that need adoption and care.
This will be a family friendly event. Parking will be across the street at Lindell Bank.
Youth Speaks Up Invitational
The Missouri Asian American Youth Foundation is proud to announce the inaugural speaking competition, Youth Speaks Up. To continue our mission of empowering and elevating youth, we are joining with TechArtista and Hispanic Leaders Group to host a speaking competition on December 10, 2022 at TechArtista. This year's prompt is: "What does it mean for young people to engage in democracy?" There is no correct way to answer this prompt, we simply tell students: come as you are.
The competition is open to high school students who identify as students of color. This is not just for traditional public speakers -- we welcome all forms of verbal expression including spoken word, slam poetry, and rap. Please contact the Tournament Director at themaayfoundation@gmail.com.
MAAYF Movie Night: Everything Everywhere All at Once
Last April, the MAAY Foundation hosted a private showing of Everything Everywhere All at Once for our community, where participants could view and discuss the film and its impact on our community.
